Exhibition prints are produced using special, archival pigment inks, and printed on acid-free paper. With proper display, they should have a life exceeding that of traditional, silver-based prints. Photographs are matted on acid-free rag matte board and when framed, are placed behind conventional glass or plexiglass, which enhance their appearance and prevents atmospheric pollutants and ambient ultraviolet light from damaging them or causing fading. Display should, if practicable, be away from direct sunlight. Other types of illumination are not a problem.
